This year, students were awarded raffle tickets at convocations honoring high-achieving students throughout the year. At those convocations, students were honored for honor roll, perfect attendance, citizenship and department awards. Thursday, those students were invited to a celebration in the Tiger Den, where they put those raffle tickets in the hopper and hoped for their ticket to be drawn for a large prize.

Other winners during Thursday event included: Kaitlyn Wilson, a washer toss game; Phil Kuhn and Joshua Savage, $100 cash each; Piero Ridoutt, a GPS system; Lauren Alcorn, an iPod; Dillon Holbrook, $50; and Trisha Reneker and Shawn Carmichael, $25 each.

During the event, WCHS also announced its volunteers of the year and the Extra Mile award winners and honored teachers as well. Wendy Tucker and Zoe Howard were named Volunteers of the year. Extra Mile Awards went to Larry Burkhart, high school custodian; Dr. Jennifer Lucht, principal; and Roy Blake, substitute teacher.
