Two Lakeview Middle School students face charges after allegedly calling in a bomb threat from a cellular telephone.
Both of the 13-year-old boys were preliminarily charged with making a false police report.
A dispatcher at the Central Dispatch Center received the 911 call at 12:08 p.m. Wednesday. The caller told the dispatcher that a "newer" student at the school told other students that there was a bomb in the school. The caller reportedly didn't know the name of the student he said was making the threat and, when the dispatcher asked him what his name was, the call was terminated.
The students at LMS were evacuated and bused to Warsaw Community High School, where they gathered in the gymnasium. Bomb-sniffing dogs from Porter County and Fort Wayne were put on standby while police, fire and school officials began a search of the building.
While conducting the search, LMS principal Thomas Kline called police and said he had the two boys believed to have made the call with him at the WCHS gym. One of the teens reportedly admitted to making the call and that there was no bomb in the school.
The suspects allegedly used a cellular telephone and called 911 from a bathroom inside the middle school.
