Editor, Times-Union: It occurred to me as I read the letters to the editor from fifth grade students at Harrison Elementary that the children have a much clearer grasp of issues that they can directly impact and that pertain to our own community.
Too often we adults get caught up in issues that our circle of influence has no way of impacting, which results in frustration and indifference in the long run. I tire of the letters that are routinely submitted with extremist views from both sides of the partisan spectrum. Most in the long run are nothing more than tired rhetoric. Cheers to the students whose letters were published!
