Story Emporium Has Grand OpeningStory Emporium had its grand opening Tuesday, which included a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce.

According to Merri Bottorff, member of Friends of the Library, Story Emporium had 61 sales receipts during its hours of operations Tuesday “and at 50% off everything, we still had a profit of $261.”

Merchandise was available at 50% off Tuesday because of the grand opening. The biggest sellers were children’s books.

Story Emporium is a used book store located near the circulation desk on the lower level of Warsaw Community Public Library, sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Money from sales will go back to the library, said Robin Fosnaugh, administrative assistant at WCPL, on Wednesday. Friends of the Library have supplied things such as sewing machines and equipment for children’s games.

Bottorff said Story Emporium may offer approximately 25% off for those who bring reusable bags.

Children's books are the biggest sellers, and homeschool moms showed up in force and were not disappointed, she said.

Story Emporium has “educator cards” each homeschool mom signs and they receive 10% off regular prices when it's shown at checkout, Bottorff said.

The monthly hours are the first and third Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; first and third Thursday, 1 to 4 p.m.; second and fourth Tuesday, 4 to 7 p.m.; and second and fourth Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Fosnaugh said.

Bookmarks are available with the store’s information. Each month the days and hours will be posted on the sign outside the door, according to a news release about the grand opening.
