Approximately 4,000 NIPSCO customers in Kosciusko and Elkhart counties were without electricity early this morning because of a thunderstorm, according to Chris Taelman, NIPSCO spokesman.
The outages included a seven-hour power interruption in portions of near downtown Warsaw.
"A number of outages were caused by lightning and high winds when the storm came through," Taelman said. "A lot were caused by downed tree limbs and trees."
Most of the power outages had been restored by this morning, he said, but isolated outages still remain. Crews are at work on all reported problems, he said.
