NAPPANEE - Powered by senior catcher Josh Stork and a huge first inning, Warsaw's varsity baseball team rocked Northern Lakes Conference foe NorthWood 19-5 in six innings Monday afternoon.
Stork hit a grand slam in the first inning, leading the visiting Tigers to an 8-run inning, and also pounded out two doubles and six RBIs.
Warsaw led 10-3 after five innings and put nine runs across in the sixth.
Sean Alderfer and Ryan DeGeeter both had two hits and two RBIs, while William Knepper and Zack Smith each had a pair of hits. Travis O'Neill had a single and two RBIs.
Junior Brandon LaFollette picked up the win on the mound, improving his pitching record to 4-0.
The Tigers are now 9-2 overall and 3-0 in the NLC. Warsaw hosts NLC foe Northridge Wednesday and Concord Friday.

The loss dropped the host Warriors to 2-9 on the season and 0-3 in the NLC. Northridge is now 4-3 and 3-1 in the NLC. The Warriors pounded out just two hits and were saddled with eight errors. Wawasee is in action again Wednesday at Plymouth.

Wawasee's varsity boys golf team, ranked No. 2 in the state behind Richmond, hosted and won a four-team match Monday at South Shore. The Warriors shot a 147, followed by West Noble's 167, Elkhart Central's 177 and Fairfield's 179. Warrior senior Evan Gerard was the match medalist with a 1-under 35. Sophomore Andy Custer, up from the JV team, shot a 36, while Stephen Conrad shot 37. West Noble's Derek Bentley hit a hole-in-one on the 213-yard, par 4 No. 8. Wawasee, now 5-0 on the season, is in action again Thursday at Manchester.
