Stolen Vehicle Found in Warsaw

A vehicle stolen out of Indianapolis was recovered early Tuesday abandoned in a Warsaw strip mall.

Around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Gelbaugh was on patrol when he came across a vehicle parked in front of a length of empty storefronts in the 3100 block of East Center Street, near U.S. 30.

Gelbaugh ran the registration and vehicle identification number on the maroon 2010 Kia Forte, and found it had been reported stolen in Marion County, according to a incident report.

Gelbaugh found the Kia’s keys sitting in a cupholder inside, though the doors were locked, the report said. He used a lock-out tool to open the vehicle, and Gelbaugh reported finding only a leather jacket in the Kia’s trunk.

Gelbaugh also reported processing fingerprints located on the vehicle’s driver’s side window.

The Kia - registered to Gregory D. Sanders, of Indianapolis - was impounded, and the sheriff’s department contacted the Indianapolis Metro Police Department.
