ROCHESTER – Steven Richard Bright, 64, of 2127 W. Ind. 110 Rochester, died at 6:15 p.m. March 11, 2012, in his residence, surrounded by his family.
He was born March 28, 1947, in Rochester, to Richard W. and Frances R. Nellans Bright. On March 6, 1966, he married Cheryl Lynn Hibner, who survives.
He helped his dad with the chores for the heifers, pigs and chickens. He graduated from Richland Center High School in 1965, the last class to graduate before Richland Center consolidated with Rochester Community Schools.
He worked at R.R. Donnelley & Sons, Warsaw, for a short period of time and worked at Timbercrest, North Manchester, from 1968-71. On Saturdays he returned to help out with the family farming operation and in 1971 he joined his father as a full-time farmer. Together they raised replacement heifers and fattened Hampshire hogs for 20 years. Each spring they planted a total of 1,200 acres of wheat, corn and beans. Also surviving are a daughter, Stephanie (and spouse Sam) Marquis, Amboy; a son, Darrell (and spouse Dana) Bright, Rochester; five grandchildren; and a sister, Joan (and spouse Keith) Kline, Bremen. He was preceded in death by a daughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Walnut Church of the Brethren, Argos, officiated by the Rev. Robert Rice, assisted by Valarie Kline officiating. Burial will be in Richland Center IOOF Cemetery.
