SYRACUSE — Steven Carl “Steve” Winkelman, 48, Syracuse, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.
He was born Dec. 3, 1969, in Huntington, to Carl L. and Carolyn Patricia “Pat” Florence Winkelman.
He attended Whitko High School in South Whitley, graduated in 1987 from Amherst (Wis.) High School, and attended Ivy Tech Community College in Warsaw and Fort Wayne. He was employed at Ritter Electric in Syracuse since 2006, formerly worked at Franko Plumbing & Heating in North Webster, and formerly owned & operated Steve’s Drywall in Cromwell. He lived most of his adult life in the Cromwell/Syracuse area.
He was a member of The Vineyard Community Church, Syracuse, and was a Scout leader for Syracuse Boy Scouts.
He is survived by a daughter, Mercedes Winkelman, Syracuse; a son, Justin Winkelman, Syracuse; his parents, Carl and Pat Winkelman, Custer, Wis.; two sisters, Rebecca (Steve) Collinson, Steelville, Mo., and Grace Winkelman, Custer; and three brothers: Matthew (Amber) Winkelman, Amherst; Michael Winkelman, Rogers, Ark.; and John (Angela) Winkelman, Mammoth, Calif.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Christina Winkelman, and a brother, Joshua Winkelman.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 20, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at The Vineyard Community Church, 7566 E. 1000N, Syracuse, with Pastor Carl Winkelman and Pastor Kent Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in Syracuse Cemetery.
