Joseph and Mary Steininger, Palestine Lake, Mentone, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 17. The couple were married May 17, 1958, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gary.
Formerly of Lake County, they retired to this area in 2003. He was a master mechanic for 40 years before being a service manager. She was a registered nurse.
The couple have four children: Victoria Zmirski; Joseph J. (and spouse Kim) Steininger; Stephanie (and spouse Edward) Carver; and Andrew L. (and spouse Kim) Steininger. They have eight grandchildren.
The couple celebrated the anniversary by hosting a dinner for their children and grandchildren at the Boathouse Restaurant.
