State Rep. Rupple To Seek Re-Election

State Rep. William Ruppel announced he is seeking re-election to the State Legislature for House District 22.

He was first elected in 1992 after serving six years on the Wabash County Council.

While in office he has authored, co-authored and sponsored more than 135 bills which have become state laws.

Some of these laws are:

• The Zachary Law, which requires sex offenders to register;

• Education license plate;

• FFA license plate;

• Access to women's health care - mammograms, women's health screening insurance;

• Colon cancer screening;

• Stalker's Law - the ability to prosecute stalkers;

• Insurance benefits for volunteer firefighters;

• 0.08 law for driving under the influence of alcohol; and

• National Guard benefits for those who are actively serving.

Currently Ruppel serves on the following committees:

nFinancial Institutions;

• Public Policy Ethics and Veterans Affairs;

• Interstate and International Cooperation;

• Appointments and Claims (as the ranking Republican);

• Indiana State Fair Advisory Board;

• White River State Park Commission; and

• Fire, Emergency Management and Planning Foundation.

Rep. Ruppel wants to continue to serve the people of Wabash County and parts of Kosciusko County. His promise is to continue to listen to the people and let their voices be heard in Indianapolis.

He resides on a small farm in North Manchester with his wife Miriam (Bechtold). They have two daughters, Jodee, a masters' student at NC State, and Linsee, a freshman at IPFW. He has taught for the Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. for 32 years. He is a member of the North Manchester United Methodist Church, the North Manchester Fire Department, Sons of the American Legion, Farm Bureau and the Indiana Sheep Breeders Association.
