The investigation of Warsaw police officers by the Indiana State Police continues.
According to Warsaw Police Chief Perry Hunter, the department has heard no new news regarding the investigation from the ISP, which means the investigation is ongoing.
However, Hunter said he is ready for the investigation to be finished so the department can move forward.
"Everyone is ready to bring this to a conclusion," Hunter said. "We will be thankful when it is put to rest."
Former WPD Lt. Joe Stanley is being investigated in connection with a gun that was confiscated during a WPD investigation.
Stanley allegedly took a gun that was part of a stolen credit card case. The gun was purchased with a stolen credit card and confiscated by police. However, the firearm was not checked into police evidence. Later, the gun was traded in at a local gun shop.
The confiscated gun was purchased by an individual and later traded in at another gun shop in Warsaw.
Then the gun was purchased by Hunter, who is a gun collector. After buying it, Hunter noticed it was similar to one confiscated by the WPD.
Once the gun's serial numbers were checked, and it was confirmed to be the same gun, Hunter called ISP to investigate.
Stanley and Tony Faucett resigned as lieutenants from WPD in July.
Despite the allegations and investigation, Hunter said things at the Warsaw Police Department are good.
"Morale is up," Hunter said. "Our officers are upbeat and optimistic. We are working on a lot of good programs."
