A standoff involving an armed Warsaw man ended peacefully Monday afternoon.
Craig Ryan Stouder, 36, of 1825 Short Ridge Drive, Warsaw, was put in the Bowen Center on a 24-hour emergency commitment Monday after threatening to kill himself.
Members of the Warsaw Police Department were dispatched to Stouder's home Monday after receiving a call from his ex-girlfriend. She said she had spoken with Stouder and was concerned that he was going to commit suicide.
Officers went to Stouder's home and tried to make contact with him, but Stouder refused to answer the door and the telephone.
Police were told that Stouder had several firearms in the house, and due to his lack of cooperation, the SWAT team was activated.
Once SWAT team members arrived at the scene, they deployed a distraction device near the northeast side of the house. The SWAT team knocked down the door using a ramming device and entered the home.
"Everything that was done was for the benefit of (Stouder's) own safety," said Warsaw Lt. Bret Richardson.
Stouder was taken into custody without incident and was taken to the Bowen Center.
Police confiscated a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun, a .22 caliber rifle and a Daisy BB gun from the home.
No one was injured in the incident.
