During a brief meeting Tuesday afternoon, the Kosciusko County Solid Waste Management District Board voted to extend Stafford's Solid Waste contract and moved forward in building improvements.
The board approved a five-year contract with Stafford's Solid Waste to handle the recyclables at the site located on South Union Street, Warsaw.
At last month's meeting, Jim Stafford presented his plan for implementing a bailer into the recycling program.Stafford agreed to freeze the recycling fee for two years and pay utilities for the building he is renting from the district.
The board also moved forward with creating a new two-door loading dock and putting three-phase outlets into the current building. The new system will allow three semi trucks to be loaded at one time.
Board member Brad Jackson noted the new loading dock will be "safer, cheaper and looks nicer."
Stafford said he hopes to get the bailer, which will allow Stafford's to be more efficient and no longer deal with loose recyclables, by the first of January.
The board is currently finalizing bids for the building of the dock.
The board also approved the minutes from September's meeting, approved the claims and heard a brief report from Director Sue Studebaker.
