Stabbing Suspect Jailed

One man is in jail and another is in the hospital after a stabbing incident that took place early this morning.

Andrew Joe Runyon, 18, of 13052 E. Ind. 114, Akron, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on one count of felony aggravated battery for allegedly stabbing Zachary Taylor Smith, 19. Runyon's bond was set at $10,000.Around 3:57 a.m., the Kosciusko County Central Dispatch Center was contacted about a stabbing victim who was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital.

According to Don Wiesehan, sheriff's deputy, Smith underwent surgery to repair stab wounds he reportedly received after being at a party overnight.

Kosciusko County Detective Charlene Johnson said Runyon was allegedly upset that another male subject had been texting messages to his ex-girlfriend at the party. Several individuals at the party attempted to talk to Runyon to calm him down.

Smith reportedly talked to Runyon and agitated him to the point whereas he cut Smith's left forearm and his right leg/thigh.

Smith was immediately driven to KCH due to the large amount of bleeding from his wounds.

The incident remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.
