Stabbing Suspect Found In Vacant BuildingMultiple tips led police to the man suspected of stabbing another person at the Detroit Street McDonald’s on Monday.

John Edward Robinson, 48, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 9:25 p.m. Tuesday for residential entry on a $5,250 preliminary bond.

According to a news release from the Warsaw Police Department Thursday morning, on Tuesday Central Dispatch received multiple tips as to the whereabouts of Robinson, who investigators were searching for in connection to the stabbing of a man at McDonald’s on Monday.

The tips from the community led officers to a vacant residence around South Union Street and West Winona Avenue.

WPD, assisted by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, searched the immediate area and located a vacant residence that matched the description left by tipsters.  That address was 417 S. Union St., the release states. Officers suspected the front door had been forced to gain entry and located an opened back door, leading them to search the vacant residence.

Robinson was found hiding in a closet.  He was taken into custody without incident.

On his person, officers located a folding knife as well as a fixed blade knife. Another folding knife was found in his personal property inside the residence.

Robinson was arrested on Tuesday for a preliminary charge of residential entry, a Level 6 felony, and a prosecutor’s hold from the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office was placed on him for the active stabbing investigation.

Contact was later made with the property owner for 417 S. Union St., and it was confirmed that no one had been given permission to enter the residence, the release states.
