St. Regis Club is sponsoring an international film festival in Warsaw in September, and submissions are being sought now. According to St. Regis Club Executive Director and Founder Dave Gustafson, the film festival will start in the afternoon on a Friday. Movies then will be shown all day Saturday to late Saturday night. Films will include short and feature-length titles. There will be documentaries and narratives. Some of the films already submitted for the St. Regis Film Festival have come from India, Belgium, Canada, Spain, South Korea as well as from across the United States. Gustafson said local submissions also are wanted for the festival. Tim Hori, director of operations, said they would love to get five or six local people to submit their films. Local films should be submitted by Aug. 15. Non-local films have until July 15 to be submitted. Local films will still be screened for submission, Hori said. According to Gustafson, the club is trying to add cultural activities to the community. The film festival is a part of St. Regis’ efforts to increase cultural opportunities in the community. Hori said it aligns with the mission statement of the club, and the film festival is the first international film festival in Warsaw. There will be drinks and hors d’oeuvre.“We hope to have some of the filmmakers present,” said Hori. Gustafson said there will be receptions and after parties at the St. Regis Club, 114 S. Buffalo St., during the film festival. Awards will be presented to the filmmakers Saturday night, Gustafson said.
