Three films made by Indiana filmmakers and shot in Indiana will be shown at the St. Regis Club as part of the club's Indiana Film Showcase.
According to co-organizer Ryan Stauffer, St. Regis is hosting the showcase March 4 to help push arts culture development in the county.
Movies were selected by the showcase organizers from the films sent to them. Stauffer said they received five or six for consideration.
The first film, "Finding Xanadu", will be shown at 3 p.m.
By director Benjamin Lancaster, the movie is a mockumentary about a fictional Muncie, Ind.-based filmmaker from the 1920s to 1970s.
"It's really funny," said Stauffer.
At 6 p.m., the second film, "Ghost Stories 4", by Dan T. Hall, will be shown. It's the fourth in a series of documentaries by Hall about ghost stories and haunted houses in Indiana.
"It's creepy," Stauffer said.
Finally, the film "Trippin'" by Devi Snively will be shown at 9 p.m.
"It's definitely the film with the biggest reach," said Stauffer.
Snively is a celebrated filmmaker, he said, and "Trippin'" is her first feature-length movie.
"It's a stoner horror romantic comedy," Stauffer said.
After each film, a question-and-answer session is planned with the filmmakers. Stauffer said at least one of the directors will be in attendance, with the two others scheduled to talk via Skype.
Cost for the film showcase is $5 per person, or $3 with a student I.D. No one under 18 is permitted.
"So, we're really excited about it. I hope a lot of people will come," Stauffer said. The films will be shown on a 135-inch screen. Seating capacity is 50 to 60 people. The showcase is taking place during the First Friday event in March.
While the showcase is the first such event for the club, organizers hope to have the first annal St. Regis Film Festival in September. During that festival, Stauffer said, they hope to show 20 to 30 films from all over the country around town. It's just another way the club hopes to push cultural opportunities in Kosciusko County.
St. Regis Club is at 114 S. Buffal St., Warsaw.
