The Downtown Eatery and Spirits and Five Star Distributing held their annual St. Jude auction Sept. 7 and eclipsed their goal of $10,000. Employees and staff of Five Star and The Downtown raised $10,097.10. Platinum sponsorships included Mike Lewis, from Lewis Salvage, and Tom Lowe with Millstone Medical Outsourcing. Dennis Newcomer donated his time as the live auctioneer. Auction organizers also thanked children who donated money raised from their lemonade stand, Fast Cab who offered free cab rides for the length of the event, and everyone who participated by bidding or donating. Next year’s goal is $15,000. St. Jude is a not-for-profit hospital serving children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
