Sroufe Donates Pickup To NWCC Auction

Posted

In a gesture that may be viewed as the ultimate sacrifice, North Webster Town Board President Jon Sroufe (pictured) has donated his eye-catching 1997 4X4 Chevy 1500 extended cab pickup truck with 258,000 miles on the odometer to the North Webster Community Center’s Heart of the Community Charity Auction & Raffle. Sroufe’s turquoise pickup, which still looks pretty good when viewed from the right side, will be gaveled during an Oct. 3 auction that has developed in recent years into a large social event and a vital source of annual operating funds for the NWCC – home to the Senior Primelife Enrichment Center, a Warsaw Parkview YMCA branch and the North Webster Public Library. Taking place from 5 to 9:30 p.m. at the NWCC, North Main Street, this year’s charity auction includes a dinner catered by The Cake Lady, a cash bar tended by The Sleepy Owl and an expansive silent auction. The raffle winner chooses one of the following: a Polaris ATV from Loose Moose Motor Sports, a Ford Escape from The Car Company, a Bennington Pontoon from Main Channel Marina or $10,000 in cash. Sroufe, in the spirit of full disclosure, also is a member of the NWCC board of directors. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at Lance’s New Market, North Webster American Legion, Sue’s Creations, Golden Mermaid, Sleepy Owl, Ace Hardware, Loose Moose, Ye Olde Pub and at NWCC.
