Squires Lead Roundup With Win Over Wabash

NORTH MANCHESTER – In a Three Rivers Conference baseball battle, with county bragging rights also on the line, the Manchester Squires took a big lead and then held on for an 8-7 win over Wabash Friday.
The Squires, trailing 1-0 at the time, scored seven runs in the bottom of the second inning and added one more in the fifth.
The visiting Apaches scored two runs in the fourth inning, another in the fifth and made things very interesting by plating three in the seventh.
Manchester pounded out nine hits in the win, while Wabash finished the game with seven hits.

Friday in Warsaw
The Warsaw Tigers gave up dug themselves a hole early and wound up losing 12-2 in six innings to Northern Lakes Conference for Northridge.
On Warsaw’s senior night, the Raiders plated one run in the first inning, and then blew the game open with eight runs in the third inning.
Northridge scored two more in the fifth and another in the sixth.
Warsaw, which fell to 6-14 overall and 4-8 in the NLC, scored both of its runs in the fourth inning.
Ryan Marshall and Cole Baker had two hits each for the Tigers, while Bryce Miller led Northridge with three hits.

Friday in Syracuse
Wawasee gave up eight runs in the first three innings Friday and fell 9-2 to visiting Northern Lakes Conference foe Plymouth.
Plymouth did most of its damage in the second frame, scoring six runs.
Wawasee, which fell to 7-12 overall and 2-10 in the NLC, was plagued by three errors.
Andrew Wright led the Warriors offensively with two hits, including a double. Nate Prescott also hit a double for Wawasee.
Sam Rookstool was charged with the loss on the mound after giving up eight runs.
The Warriors are at West Noble today.

Whitko’s varsity baseball team pounded out 15 hits Thursday, upping hits record to 15-7 overall and 5-1 in the Three Rivers Conference with a 12-5 win at North Miami.
Riley Anderson was 3 for 3 at the plate and scored two runs for the Wildcats, while Drew Bradford, Zach Snep, Tanner Gaff and Tanner Hughes had two hits each in the win.
Snep scattered four hits over four innings and earned the win on the mound, while Zach Hewitt and Hunter Sroufe combined to give up just three hits over the final three innings.
Snep hit a double and a triple in the win, while Landen Goff ripped a home run.

Friday in Plymouth
Wawasee pounded out 12 hits and took advantage of six Plymouth errors in a 13-0 win in five innings Friday.
The Lady Warriors scored five runs in the second inning, one in the third, four in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Wawasee’s Danielle Gunkel worked all five innings in the circle and gave up just three hits.
Maddy Wilson, Allyssa Flores, Kayla White and Hannah Haines had two hits each in the win.
The Lady Warriors, who are in action again Monday at Goshen, improved to 17-5 overall and 10-2 in the NLC.

Warsaw’s varsity boys golf team improved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in Northern Lakes Conference play after shooting a 155 at Bent Oak, beating Goshen (174) and Concord (180).
Warsaw’s Ryan Cultice was the match medalist with a 36, while Jonny Hollar shot 38.
The Tigers are in action again today in the Culver Military Invite.
