Squires Fall In Extra-Inning Thriller At Parkview Field

Posted
FORT WAYNE – Manchester pushed across two runs with two outs and nobody on in the top of the ninth inning to take the lead, but Wabash scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to take a 7-6 win over the Squires at Parkview Field Wednesday.
Landon Tharpe started the Squire two-out rally with a double. Bailey Ness then singled to drive in pinch runner Kam Lester, and Ness came around to score on a pair of Wabash throwing errors.
Wabash’s Braxton Rowley led off the bottom of the ninth with a triple, and scored on Kaleb Kelsheimer’s single to cut the Squire lead in half. Jordan Holley’s single put runners at first and second, and a double steal moved them into scoring position. Treavor Floor’s second double of the night proved to be the game winner.
Tharpe finished the night with three hits, Rylie Reichert had two hits and drove in a pair of runs. Zach Hill added an RBI single to the Squire attack.
“It was an exciting baseball game,” said Manchester head coach Jack Rupley. “Our kids played hard and didn’t quit. I’m proud of them. Give Wabash credit for their comeback to win.”
Manchester (1-5) will travel to Columbia City on Friday.
