Squires Blank Braves On Senior NightNORTH MANCHESTER – The five seniors on Manchester High School’s varsity boys soccer team were recognized after Monday’s Three Rivers Conference game with Maconaquah.

During the game, some of the Squires’ underclassmen made sure Senior Night was a success.

In an 8-0 win over the visiting Braves, sophomore Caleb Stout scored four times, while junior Noah Beck netted two goals and juniors Isaiah Davis and Brandon Wagoner scored one goal each.

The lopsided win, which produced six goals in the second half, came without sophomore standout Harley Kruschwitz, who has missed the last three games with an injury.

Manchester coach Dave McKee said some adjustments were made to the offense in Kruschwitz’s absence, but that his team still has plenty of firepower – as evidenced by the fact the Squires have outscored their last two opponents 14-3.

“It took a little while for the offense to adjust without Harley, he’s a playmaker, but we still have a great offense,” said McKee, whose team improved to 11-2-1 overall and 5-0 in the TRC while Maconaquah fell to 4-7-1 and 2-3.

“We have six guys up front working hard. We adjusted things a little bit. We’re playing a little differently, but we still have plenty of offense.”

Kruschwitz scored 18 goals in 11 games.

With his four goals Monday night, Stout upped his team-leading goal total to 25.

“He’s our leading scorer, and he just worked hard,” said McKee. “He scored one off his chest, and he earned every goal he scored today. He’s only a sophomore, and he’s a team leader.”

Stout also had one assist in the win.

Nathan Self was credited with two assists, while Justin Self, Dylan Brubaker, Fermin Guerrero and Davis had one assist each.

The majority of the game was played on Maconaquah’s half of the field, making it a very relaxing evening for Manchester junior goalkeeper Konrad Borgmann.

The Squires, who have outscored their opponents 79-16 this season, tallied 22 shots on goal to just one for the Braves.

Manchester now focuses on a showdown Wednesday at North Miami.

The Warriors are 11-1 overall, and both teams are 5-0 in the TRC.

North Miami is on a 10-game win streak and has outscored its opponents 68-10.

“We’re 5-0 now in the conference, that’s big,” said McKee. “The big game is at North Miami Wednesday. They’re 5-0 also, and they’re a very good team. We’ll see how things go there.”
