Squire Tennis Avenges Loss To Huntington North

NORTH MANCHESTER – Avenging a loss from last season and winning for the fourth time in five years, Manchester beat Huntington North’s boys tennis team 3-2 Wednesday evening on the Squires’ courts.
Winners for the Squires were senior Max Karg at No. 1 singles, seniors Noah Cain and Matthew Pegg at No. 1 doubles, and freshman Luke Donathan at No. 3 singles. Karg beat Nick May, considered to be one of the better players in the region.
“This was an awesome match for Max against one the best players in  northeast Indiana,” said Squires head coach Joel Eichenauer via e-mail. “This elevates Max Karg into top player status in this region. And for our team, we feel real pleased to have out-dueled a strong team.”
Manchester will play in the West Noble Invitational in Ligonier on Saturday.

Wednesday in Warsaw
The Warsaw Tigers fell 3-2 to Culver Academy in a boys tennis match Wednesday evening.
Andrew Gauger won at No. 3 singles for the Tigers, as did the No. 1 doubles duo of Justin Stout and David Homme.
The Tigers return to Northern Lakes Conference play this afternoon with a trip to Plymouth.

Wednesday in Dunlap
Eduardo Calderon scored for Warsaw, but it wasn’t enough as Concord beat the visiting Tigers 5-1 Wednesday.
The junior varsity also fell to the Minutemen 2-1, with Alvaro Aguillon scoring for the Tigers.
Warsaw will take a 1-5 overall record to the Carroll tourney, which begins today and runs through Saturday.

Wednesday in Culver
Wawasee was blanked 6-0 by Culver Academy Wednesday evening. The JV also lost 3-2.
The team will host Huntington North at 3:45 p.m. Saturday.

Wednesday in Rochester
In a match added to the schedule late, Rochester beat Triton 25-21, 25-11, 25-14 Wednesday evening.
The Lady Trojans had a hard time attacking the Zebras, with ust 10 kills, one ac and four assists on the evening.
Triton will travel to Culver Community for a Hoosier North Athletic Conference match this evening.

Mikala Mawhorter carded a 41 at Wawasee Golf Club to lead the Lady Warriors to a 171-177 win over Culver Academy Wednesday evening.
Kylee Rostochak checked in with a 42, Aubrey Schmeltz and Madison Beaman each recorded 44s, and Kamryn Foy had a 45.
The Lady Eagles’ Lauren Read was the medalist with a 39.
Wawasee returns to Northern Lakes Conference play this evening when they travel to Nappanee and take on Northridge and host NorthWood.

Tippecanoe Valley earned another split in a golf match Tuesday, losing to Maconaquah but beating Rochester. Maconaquah had 203, Valley 215, Rochester 223.
Rochester’s Kinley Lingenfelter was the medalist with a 41 while Valley was led by Victoria Biddle’s 44. Liz VanMeter carded a 52, blake McBrier a 56, Makayla Sandbakken a 63 and Lexi Cumberland a 64.
The Lady Vikings return to action this afternoon against  Southwood at Etna Acres Golf Course.
