LARWILL - After more than 150 years, Larwill's Squawbuck Days still offers many activities for everyone.
The 153rd anniversary Squawbuck Days is scheduled for Aug. 10-12 this year. The event is sponsored by the Larwill firemen, Lions and Richland Township Community Association.
Squawbuck Days is a joint fundraiser, hosted by the community organizations, to finance and better accomplish their intended services to Larwill and the surrounding community.
All events are at the fire station, unless otherwise noted.
From noon to 9 p.m. Aug. 10 is the pull-in antique tractors and crafts. The fire department has their tenderloin fry beginning at 4 p.m., with Bingo at 5:30 p.m. by the Lions Club for the Whitko Dollars for Scholars.
Events on Aug. 11 start off with a pancake sausage breakfast by Oak Grove United Methodist Church from 7 to 9 am. Also at 7 a.m. is the Walk Through Larwill Community Past with Bill Leffel in the Community Room. From 7 a.m. to noon are crafts, flea market and garage sales.
Car show registration is 9 a.m. to noon. Kiddie Tractor Pull and games are at 10 a.m., ham and bean dinner by the Lions at 11 a.m., and Larwill Wesleyan Church offers "Dinner from the Kitchen" at 11 a.m.
The car show awards and the pony pull both start at 3 p.m.
The car show will be held rain or show, and is an open show. Dash plaques will be given to the first 50, and there will be door prizes, 50/50 raffle and games. A fireman's choice trophy will be awarded. Wall plaques also will be handed out to the best 10, and there's a piston throw. Trophies are for new car, truck, classic car and sports car. A $500 purse is available in the Haflinger & Draft Pony Pony Pull. First place will receive $80, $70 for second, $60 for third, $55 for fourth, $45 for fifth, $40 for sixth, $35 for seventh, $30 for eighth, $25 for ninth, and $20 each for 10th-12th place. Events conclude Aug. 12 at 10:30 a.m. with service at Larwill Wesleyan Church. At 11:30 a.m. is "The Last Voyage of the SS Gigantic," a lunch-time dinner theater experience.
