Spikes To Hold Rileys Hospital Benefit

Racing For Riley will be Father's Day weekend and will feature all kinds of fun events including racing, music, food and more to raise money for Rileys Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

Presented by Spikes Beach Grill and the JP Machine Shop, the local ML Motorsports Busch Team race car will be on display throughout the weekend and all auction money, gate charges and donations go to Riley Hospital For Children and the Ronald McDonald House.

The events begin at 10 a.m. June 15 with Spikes Beach Grill, the Riley Golf Scramble and the Raccoon Run Golf Course. At 11 a.m. Spikes opens and there are "Racing for Riley" specials all day. At 3 p.m. the Riley Golf Scramble awards will be presented on the Spikes Corona Stage. Blue Moon Blues Night specials start at 6 p.m. and Blue Incorporated will perform on Spikes Stage at 8 p.m. with a $4 cover charge.

Gates open at 11:30 a.m. June 16 with a $5 admission charge. Children 10 and younger get in free. At 11:30 a.m. Spikes Beach BBQ tent opens, as does the Kids Hippy Van hot dogs and the Pop Kart tent. Riley's Not So Silent Auction begins and the kids' bouncy rooms are available.

At 12:30 p.m. there will be a musician and it will be open mic all day. Also, the 50/50 cornhole tournament begins. At 1 p.m. participants may qualify for the Bud Pole Kart. The National Anthem will be sung at 1:30 p.m. and Wayne Campbell will fly over. At 1:45 p.m. there will be an invocation by Rod Mayer, followed by "Start Your Engines" for all the kids. At 2:30 p.m. the Pop Kart Series opener begins along with a sponsor parade lap, 15 lap-heat races and a 25- lap feature. The Flipping For Riley Frisbee Dog Show is at 4 p.m.

The evening will continue at 5 p.m. with a Hudson Taylor and Annie Mayer memorial, and a Spikes/Kerlin Motor Invitational Kart Race. The Pace Kart Start, which is a 50- lap invitational kart race, will begin at 5:45 p.m. and silent auction winners will be announced at 7 p.m.

At 7:45 p.m. racing trophy presentations will begin by Camille Kerlin and at 8:15 p.m. there will be a Riley speaker, followed by closing ceremonies. "Racing For Riley" will end with Bottle of Blues taking stage at 8:30 p.m. with a $4 cover charge.

Racing fan are encouraged to come cheer on their local drivers. Driver sponsors are still needed.

The track is in Spikes' front parking lot. All Riley kids have free admission.
