NAPPANEE - Sovilla Schmucker Hochstetler, 91, of 111-B 2nd Road, Nappanee, died at 2:05 p.m. April 1, 2008, in her residence.

She was born Sept. 10, 1916, in Hicksville, Ohio, to Jonas and Catherine Schrock Schmucker. On Sept. 27, 1934, in Elkhart County, she married Andrew M. Hochstetler, who died Jan. 28, 2005.

She moved to Indiana when she was 7 years old, she was a homemaker and a member of Old Order Amish Church.

Surviving are seven sons: Devon (and spouse Laura), Lisle (and spouse Mary), Monroe Jay (and spouse Erma), Andrew Jr. (and spouse Tracy) and Danny Hochstetler, all of Nappanee; Wyman "Hop" (and spouse Maryln) Hochstetler, Walkerton; and Richard (and spouse Esther) Hochstetler, Hale, Texas; seven daughters: Betty (and spouse Marvin) Slabaugh, Alma (and spouse Chris) Slabaugh; Mary Etta Hochstetler, Linda (and spouse Harley) Schmucker and Sherry (and spouse Marlin) Miller, all of Nappanee; Maude (and spouse Oscar) Burkholder, Bremen; and Judy (and spouse Wilbur) Mast, Etna Green; 77 grandchildren; 270 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four grandchildren, a great-grandchild, six brothers and three sisters.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the family residence with Bishop Leon Miller officiating, assisted by Home Ministry. Burial will be in Weldy Cemetery.

Calling is after 3 p.m. today and all day Thursday at the family residence.
