Spell Bowl teams from South Whitley Elementary School competed Thursday at the Honeywell Center in Wabash in a statewide spelling competition. Each team consisted of eight spellers and one alternate. Each speller was given eight words to spell and the total correctly spelled was the team score. The competition was sponsored by the Indiana Association of School Principals. The South Whitley fifth-grade team finished third of five schools at the Wabash site and 102 out of 138 schools in Division IV. The fourth-grade team found the competition a great experience to prepare them for next year.
