SOUTH?WHITLEY – A man was arrested Saturday after police allege he forced his way into a bedroom and choked a woman.
Dillon Michael Alma, 18, of 8306 W. CR 300S, South Whitley, was arrested on preliminary charges of battery, burglary causing a bodily injury, strangulation, domestic battery in the presence of a child and criminal conversion. Formal charges had not been filed as of press time.
Shortly after midnight Saturday a woman called police and said Alma, her ex- boyfriend, had forced his way into to her bedroom, according to a police report.
The woman began to scream, and Alma held her down and covered her mouth, the report states.
The woman told police Alma also put his hand around her neck to choke her.
She told police she began to cry, but Alma would not let her leave the bedroom.
Police say the two’s young child was in the room at the time of the attack.
The woman said as she tried to move toward the doorway, Alma would “slam her on the ground, and do it again,” the report states.
The woman was able to exit the room and run to her brother, who also lived there.
The brother chased Alma through the residence, ending when Alma jumped through a second story window to exit.
Police located and arrested Alma a short time later.
Alma told police that the woman let him into the bedroom and he did not force his way in. He said he only held the woman down by her wrists to get her to calm down.
Alma was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail and has been released.
