WHITLEY COUNTY - A South Whitley man died after his car was struck and caught fire in Whitley County.
According to a report from the Whitley County Sheriff's Department, Andrew Kessie, 19, of Columbia City, was westbound on CR 400S when he ran the stop sign at CR 950W around 7:05 p.m. Saturday. The Ford Ranger, driven by Kessie, struck a Chevy Corvette, driven by Craig Saltsman, 29, of 402 S. State St., South Whitley.
Saltsman died from severe burns after his Corvette caught fire.
Kessie was taken to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, for head injuries. He was treated and released.
The accident remains under investigation by the Whitley County Sheriff's Department.
