South Whitley Man Arrested On Child Porn ChargesSOUTH WHITLEY – A South Whitley man is facing child pornography possession charges after police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Michael D. Russell, 39, of South Whitley, was arrested at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and booked in the Whitley County Jail where he is facing charges for possession of child pornography, a Level 6 felony; and possession of child pornography under 12 years old, a Level 5 felony.
According to the Indiana State Police, on April 24 ISP detectives with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that ultimately led to a search warrant being served at the residence at 105 E. Market St., South Whitley, by ISP with the assistance from the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department and the South Whitley Police Department.
Russell is being held at WCJ pending an initial hearing on the matter.
