The Hebrew term for soul (nefosh - that which breathes) was used by Moses signifying an animated being and applicable equally to non-human beings. Where does it say in the Bible that a man's soul will live forever? Ezekial 18:4 says, "Look, all the souls to me they belong. As the soul of the father likewise the soul of the son to me they belong. The soul that is sinning - it itself will die."
