Tuesday was a tough day for Warsaw's Sorg South Chrysler Dodge Jeep.
It was the last day for the business at 2845 N. Detroit St. in Warsaw to sell new Chrysler vehicles. The dealership now will sell used vehicles and also will have a service center.
The dealership was one of nearly 800 dealerships that Chrysler eliminated in May.Toby Sorg, Warsaw's Chrysler Dodge Jeep owner, said the business will now sell used Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles, along with other makes and models.
Toby and his brother, Randy, purchased the Warsaw dealership two years ago. The brothers also own Sorg Dodge, which their father Dennis opened 45 years ago in Goshen.
Toby said there were five new Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles remaining at the Warsaw dealership that were taken to the Sorg Dodge in Goshen Tuesday.
"We will provide the same great service because we have gained a great deal of momentum from Kosciusko County," Toby said during a telephone interview this morning.
Sorg earlier said the dealership may pursue other franchise opportunites to sell new vehicles.
The Warsaw dealership was notified May 14 by a letter from Chrysler that they would no longer sell new Chryslers. Sorg Dodge will continue to sell new Chrysler vehicles.
Sorg said business has been good at the Warsaw dealership.
"We sold three vehicles yesterday and are looking forward to the future and are still keeping our great staff and facility," Toby said.
He said customers still can receive routine service at the Warsaw dealership for all makes and models.
Chrysler warranty work will be performed at the Sorg Dodge dealership.
The Warsaw dealership hours are Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The business phone number is 574-267-5850.
