ROCHESTER – Sonja J. Easterday, 71, of Rochester, died at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 11, 2011, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Culver.
She was born Feb. 21, 1940, in Hamilton County, to Richard J. and Dorothy Shelley Brown. On June 21, 1959, in Fulton, she married James Richard Easterday, who died Nov. 21, 1999.
She had owned and operated Easterday Tax Service for more than 35 years and helped run the family dairy farm. Prior to operating her own tax service, she worked for H&R Block, and taught school in Aubbeenaubbee Township and Monterey Schools. She was currently serving on the Fulton County Council, was an active member of the Fulton County Republican Women’s Club, member of the Fulton County 4-H, where she had been a club leader and secretary of the beef committee.
Surviving are two sons, David L. Easterday (and companion Darla Stone) and Michael J. Easterday, all of Rochester; two daughters, Katherine L. Easterday, Rochester, and Kelly L. (and spouse John) Heckman, Syracuse; a brother, Stephen J. Brown, Rochester; two sisters, Shirley (and spouse Horace) Ory, Poulsbo, Wash., and Sharon J. (and spouse Larry) Alber, Brookville, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zimmer Brothers Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Dave Sommers officiating.
Calling is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
