Solon Waverly Hoyt, 91, of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, died at 10:15 a.m. Feb. 21, 2013, at Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake.
He was born April 2, 1921, in Dallas Center, Iowa, to Clarence Lyman and Anna Leola Dorsey Hoyt. On Aug. 22, 1942, he married Kathryn Ruth Hirschy, who survives in Winona Lake.
A resident of Kosciusko County for the past 30 years,  he was a member of Lakeland Grace Brethren Church, Warsaw.
He attended Bryan University, Dayton, Tenn., for three years; studied for a year in Huntington University; then attended Grace Seminary, Winona Lake, for three years. He was a missionary in Argentina for 43 years.
Also surviving are daughter, Rita (and spouse Michael) Koch, Upland; four sons: Lynn (and spouse Mary) Hoyt,   South Carolina; Aldo (and spouse Alice) Hoyt, Denver, Colo.; Ivan (and spouse Kimberly) Hoyt, Argentina; and Alan (and spouse Sharon) Hoyt, Warsaw; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Lakeland Grace Brethren Church, Warsaw, officiated by Dr. Russ Simpson. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, and one hour prior to the service Monday at Lakeland Grace Brethren Church.
