In a meeting rescheduled to accommodate a quorum, members of the Kosciusko County Solid Waste Management District met Thursday to approve the 2007 budget, transfer funds and approve contracts and claims.

Board members approved a 2007 $322,012 operating budget and another budget of $25,362 to pay for the building. Revenues from the tax levy are given as $160,382 while tipping fees, building rent, grants and other income from recycling services total about $165,806.

Recycling services costs were given as $184,925 with $130,000 paid to Stafford and Son.

Personal services (salaries and benefits) increased five percent for the director for $43,426 and $12,376 for a part-time office assistant. The controller receives $6,300 per year.

A line item of $15,000 was given for roof repair in 2007.

The board discussed paying off the building loan and tabled that idea until next month.

The board also:

• Approved a transfer of funds in the amount of $1,250 from recycling services to office supplies ($1,000) and legal notices ($250).

• Approved a public education and promotion grant of $9,907.

• Approved Safety Kleen of South Bend for household hazardous waste pickup.
