Warsaw has a snow removal assistance program, which was outlined at the Board of Works meeting Friday.

Driveway entrances only is available for citizens who cannot do the work themselves due to a medical impairment and who do not have any other family members who can assist them, Mayor Ernie Wiggins said.

Applications are available at the parks office and completed applications are forwarded to Police Chief Steven Foster.

Parks department personnel will clear the driveways when time allows.

Board of works member Jerry Patterson said he had heard from several citizens about how quickly the street department cleared the streets of snow recently, passing the compliment on to street department superintendent Lacy Francis Jr.

The board approved a $50,000 grant application to the K21 Foundation toward the construction of Phase II of the Beyer Farm Trail for the Lake City Greenway project. This segment will connect the Kosciusko Community Hospital "campus" with the Hodges and Meadowbrook housing additions.

Total costs for this segment of the greenway were given as $143,000.

The contract between Clounie Landscaping, Huntington, and the city for the Center Street improvement project was also approved. Clounie presented a very low bid, one not to exceed $186,500.

Kevin A. McCrory, of the LandPlan Group, said his meeting with Clounie representatives was satisfactory, that there were no miscalculations or unexpected items in the bid.

"It's just a good price," McCrory said of the price that came in at $83,500 less than estimates.
