Smokin' Charlies Open For BusinessIt started in 2004 as a catering business.
Now, Smokin' Charles BBQ has its own restaurant.
Owner Loretta Rote opened the restaurant at 101 Argonne Road, Warsaw, April 27 after a five-month renovation.
The two-story building has offices on the second floor and two separate dinning areas on the first floor.
Smokin' Charlies seats more than 100 people.
The restaurant currently is without a beer/wine license but Rote said she's working on that.
Rote said business has been brisk since she opened her doors.
Smokin' Charlies also continues to do catering, said Rote. There is a $40 minimum to deliver food.
Rote said she specializes in barbecue items but also offers chicken and fish dinners and even veggie burgers.
To add something unique, Rote painted a quilt design in one of the dining rooms to honor her culture growing up with an Amish/Mennonite background.
Smokin' Charlies employees almost 30 people currently and may expand in the near future.
The restaurant sells their own barbecue sauce and is preparing to sell rubs and jerky.
Smokin' Charlies is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
