Macon and the Rev. Marcy Reid Smith, Greensboro, N.C., announce the engagement of their daughter Raychl Elizabeth Smith to Luke Woodward. He is the son of Richard and Luann Woodward, Lexington, N.C., and formerly of Warsaw.
The bride-to-be is a graduate of Appalachian State University, Boone, N.C., and is pursuing a master's degree in music education from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. She is a music teacher with Weddington Hills Elementary School, Concord, N.C.
The groom-elect currently is pursuing a bachelor's degree at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, majoring in urban planning. He also works part time Charlotte area.
The couple plan an Oct. 10 wedding at Holy Covenant Church of Christ, Charlotte.
