Six people were injured in two separate accidents Friday in Kosciusko County.

A Michigan man is in fair condition at a Fort Wayne hospital after a 5:37 p.m. accident at the intersection of CRs 400W and 1250N.

John Tucker, 51, of Galien, suffered multiple fractures and was airlifted from the scene to Parkview Hospital. Tucker was ejected from his vehicle after he collided with a semi tractor/trailer driven by Bruce Hunsberger, 49, of Nappanee.

According to a press release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Tucker was northbound on CR 400E when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection with CR 1250N and collided with Hunsberger's rig. Hunsberger was not injured in the accident.

Assisting at the scene were personnel from Milford police, fire and emergency medical service and Multi-Township Emergency Medical Service.

The other accident, at 8:22 p.m. Friday, occurred at the intersection of South Fisher Avenue and Rozella Road, Warsaw.

A Warsaw Police Department report indicates that both of the vehicles involved were northbound on Fisher Avenue (Ind. 15). Jason R. Goble, 18, of Wexford Place, Warsaw, said he looked down to light a cigarette and when he looked up, a car driven by Phillip D. Byrer, 51, of East High Street, Atwood, was stopped in front of him waiting to make a left-hand turn. Goble was unable to stop and struck Byrer's car from behind.

Goble was not injured, but a passenger in his car, Loran P. Ramar, 23, no address given, complained of knee pain. Ramar was treated at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, and released.

Byrer and his three passengers also were treated at KCH and released. Byrer complained of neck pain; Sharon Byrer, 47, East High Street, Atwood, suffered bleeding to her head; Brenna H. Byrer, 9, complained of back pain; and Brittney D. Byrer, 8, suffered facial bleeding.

After the accident, Goble was arrested for possession of marijuana and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail. Police reportedly found three marijuana cigarette butts in Goble's car. A charge of driving while under the influence of a controlled substance could be filed against Goble pending the outcome of a blood test performed at KCH.
