SYRACUSE - Six people were arrested late Friday after police served a search warrant at a Syracuse residence where a drug investigation was ongoing.

Officers from the Syracuse Police Department, Indiana State Police and Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department converged on the residence at 504-D Parkway Drive about 10 p.m. During the execution of the search warrant, police seized a large quantity of marijuana, rock cocaine, drug paraphernalia and money believed associated with the distribution of illegal drugs, according to a press release from the SPD.

The tenants of the apartment were two of the five arrested. They are:

• Darryl Fields, 34, who was preliminarily charged with dealing a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance. His bond is set at $20,000.

• Niccole Marie Paschall, 19, who was preliminarily charged with dealing a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance and resisting or fleeing law enforcement. Her bond is set at $20,000.

Also arrested, preliminarily charged with visiting a common nuisance and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail were:

• Calmekia Renee Fields, 18, Marion;

• Rebecca Jane Yates, 30, of 9239 Lilac Lane, Syracuse; and

• Russell Lee Yates, 36, of 12414 CR 148, Syracuse.

Bond for each of those was set at $250.

A sixth person was arrested after reportedly calling the residence in an attempt to purchase cocaine.

Janice Wood, 40, of P.O. Box 434, Syracuse, was met by two uniformed officers at a predetermined location. She initially was placed under arrest for public intoxication and, after police reportedly found a narcotic substance in her possession, she also was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Her bond was set at $2,000.

Police said this investigation could not have happened without the assistance of the Syracuse community. Officers from the SPD followed up on tips from residents for several weeks, the press release noted.
