SILVER LAKE – A Silver Lake man was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with child molesting. Dustin Edward Owens, 40, of 10402 S. Ind. 15, Silver Lake, was charged with performing or submitting to sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl, according to an affidavit from the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office. On Thursday, a child protective services caseworker spoke with the victim, who is now 32 weeks pregnant and said Owens is the only person she had sexual intercourse with, according to the affidavit. The caseworker was informed that intercourse with Owens started in April when the victim was 12 years old. The intercourse happened at Owens’ residence, according to the affidavit. The caseworker spoke to a doctor, who said Owens scheduled but missed all three doctor appointments for the victim. Owens told the caseworker he believes the child is not his. The caseworker also spoke with the victim’s 12-year-old sister, who said Owens kissed her and touched her inappropriately. Owens is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail with no bond.
