Silver Lake Man Arrested For Allegedly Hitting, Spitting On Pregnant Wife

A Silver Lake man is in jail and facing several felony battery charges after one of his children witnessed the ordeal and told a teacher at school.
Robert Stephen Blair, 37, of 303 W. Sycamore St., Silver Lake, and also showing an address of 2085 S. CR 275E, Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 3:43 p.m. Dec. 27 and faces charges of domestic battery to a pregnant woman, a Level 5 felony; domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a Level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Dec. 16 in Kosciusko Superior Court II, on Oct. 31, Silver Lake Police were contacted by a Child Protective Services caseworker. The caseworker told police an elementary student had told a teacher that the father hit the mother that day.
When police spoke to the female victim, according to court papers, she told police she lives with Blair with four children and is pregnant. She said she went to wake Blair up for work at 8:25 a.m. and that Blair became upset when he realized one of the children was not fully dressed and ready to leave. The woman said an argument began and Blair backhanded her across the face.
The affidavit states that when the woman went to leave to take the children to school, Blair followed them onto the front porch, spit in the woman’s face, kneed her in her groin and grabbed her by the neck and pushed her against the wall. All four children witnessed this, according to police reports.
Blair was convicted of domestic battery to the same woman on March 19, 2018, in Kosciusko Circuit Court, according to court records.
