Silver Lake Hires Deputy MarshalSILVER LAKE - At Wednesday night's meeting, the Silver Lake Town Council approved a $20-per-hour pay rate for the town's new deputy marshal.
Matthew Wynn, previously a reserve officer in Claypool, will begin his duties after he is sworn in June 1.
Clerk-Treasurer Tonya Conley needs letters of support for a new community center in town as she seeks grant funding for its construction. Town residents or owners of businesses in Silver Lake may write letters and submit them to the town office or email them to Conley at tconley@townofsilverlake.com.
Park equipment for Indian Trail and Rambler Park have been ordered, but the parks will not be complete until August or September.
The council approved the $1,000 purchase of a laptop for Conley's remote work and six replacement lights at $858 each for Memory Park.
In other business:
- Town cleanup day is Saturday, May 20. Odd-size trash must be set out Friday evening, May 19 within a 6-by-6-foot area.
- Town rummage sales will be June 16-17.
- The fire department had four runs last month: two assists to other departments, one medical assist and one fire alarm.
