SILVER LAKE - As of April 21, Silver Lake will have a new town/wastewater superintendent as of April 21.
Jasun Blocher, who also is the chief for the town's volunteer fire department, will begin serving as the town superintendent later this month. At a special meeting Monday night in the town hall building, the Silver Lake Town Council approved Blocher's hiring with a 3-0 vote.
Blocher will replace Phil Shalley, who submitted his letter of resignation to the town last month after 17 years of service to the town. Shalley will continue to work for the town part-time after April 18, the date he designated for his resignation.
Shalley will be paid $10 per hour for his part-time services, and the town's salary ordinance will be amended at the April 8 meeting to allow that.
Also at Monday's meeting, the council approved a motion to increase Water Superintendent Josh Naibauer's pay rate to $16.50 per hour.
Blocher's pay will start at the same level Shalley currently is paid, $18.08 per hour.
Members of the Silver Lake Town Council are Gale Owens, president; Ronald Jones; and Linda Baker. Town clerk is Angie Glass.
