SILVER LAKE – The Silver Lake Town Council met briefly Wednesday evening to discuss some changes and upcoming events. Town Clerk Tonya Conley said there will be a change in the retirement contribution. In the past, one percent was contributed twice a year and now, .5 percent will be contributed twice a year. She also said she is looking to switch insurance for better coverage for town employees. She mentioned that water bills may have appeared a little higher last month because an extra week was added to the billing due to Christmas. Assistant Fire Chief John Conley said the fire department made five runs and assisted with two vehicle accidents last month. He said the annual hog roast is scheduled for May 23 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be a corn hole tournament and an auction with the grand prize of four park hopper passes at Disneyworld.
