Posted

A fire in a Silver Lake summer cottage has been ruled arson.

The cottage, owned by James R. Clay Jr., Zanesville, was damaged by fire Friday.

A man working on the residence reported the fire on Courtland Avenue, Silver Lake.

Police reported that the north side of the cottage was burned 12 feet up and at least 3 feet wide. The siding was melted and insulation board was exposed.

A Kosciusko County Sheriff's Detective reported he could smell what he believed to be an accelerant, possibly gasoline, on the ground below the burnt area.

Police have no suspects in the fire. Damage to the house was estimated at $2,000.
