Silver Lake Approves Trash Contract

Posted

SILVER LAKE - With contracts due in March, the Silver Lake Town Council Tuesday decided to accept bids for trash pickup in the town at its Feb. 8 meeting.

The council will advertise the contracts with the same description in the past. Once the bids are received, the council will choose a contractor for the trash pickup beginning in March.

The town also looked at last year's vacation policy to make a decision regarding Josh Naibauer's request for his leftover time. Naibauer had 6-1/2 unused vacation days from 2004. In accordance with the policy, he will be paid for five of those days. The remaining 1-1/2 days will be lost.

In other business, the council:

• Accepted $2,500 from the Silver Lake Lions Club to pay for a portion of a storm sewer/bridge project.

• Approved re-signing Vern Landis as town attorney.

• Heard that the carnival for Silver Lake Days will need 70 more feet of space to add a new ride this summer. As long as the EMS approves, the council has no problem with giving the extra space.

Silver Lake Town Council members are Ron Jones, president, Stan Williams and Tom Waite. Town clerk is Angie Glass.
