SILVER LAKE – The Silver Lake Town Council approved a trash pick-up bid from Stafford's Solid Waste Tuesday.
Silver Lake Town Clerk Tonya Conley opened the bids for the trash pick-up contract in front of a sparse crowd at the Silver Lake Town Hall.
There were bids from Stafford's Solid Waste, Veolia Environmental Services and Wabash Valley Refuse.

In addition Stafford’s had included three 6-by-6 containers on the north side of town. The cost per month on those containers is $100 each.
Town council member Gale Owens motioned to accept the Stafford's bid and Phil Shalley seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
“For 79 cents difference per house we have never had issues with Stafford's and they have always been there for us,” Owens said. “They are from the community and they participate in the food pantry and other local activities.”
The council also passed resolution 3-01-12, which repealed ordinance 3-1-6, that stated the town must have two month’s worth of water operating funds before a 10 percent transfer into an improvement fun can be made. The resolution passed 3-0.
