First of all, I would like to thank our friends, family and citizens of Silver Lake for all of the support and encouraging comments made during the last four years. My wife, Angela Glass, has endured constant half truths and false accusations but has been able to overlook this harassment because of your support.
I would like to explain some of the comments made recently. The last letter Mrs. Wadkins submitted to the Times-Union on 9-7-07 failed to mention the last state audit that took place in March 2007. In that audit, there were no findings except for the town took a quote instead of a bid. The State Board of Accounts audit had no findings other than this minor infraction, maybe Mrs. Wadkins just failed to mention this. Mrs. Wadkins also failed to mention that she called the state police to investigate back in 2005. There was no report filed because there was nothing to report. Don't you think if Angie was committing felonies she would be in jail? Maybe the state police and the State Board of Accounts is wrong, not Mrs. Wadkins or Ms. Howell.
Yes, I strongly believe that most of Mrs. Wadkins' focus on Angie is to help Ms. Howell get back into office. This office is up for election this fall. If Mrs. Wadkins was truly writing these letters for the benefit of the town, she would help not hinder and degrade. I believe the only reason is for public humiliation of my wife and the town. Do you realize how bad this looks on Silver Lake and its citizens? What kind of personal grudge or political reason is worth all of this?
Mrs. Wadkins also keeps bringing up Angie's qualifications and pay. Angie's qualifications include: 1987 graduate of Mississinewa High School, 1991 graduate with a bachelor's degree in psychology from Indiana Wesleyan University completing several accounting classes, and six years as a certified tax preparer for H&R Block. We also owned a small bowling proshop business that I operated for 10 years where Angie took care of sales tax, inventory, billing, customer relations and many other tasks. As far as the pay goes, the $91,103 that my wife has been paid, that is for the four years in office, not per year ($22,775.75/year). The average salary of clerks for a town comparable to Silver Lake (population 700-2,000) is ($28,448.82/year).
If you have ever started a new job, you know it takes training from well-trained employees to become effective quickly. In this case, my wife was told here are the keys, have at it. I am extremely proud of my wife and all of her impressive accomplishments over the last four years. Angie is the best mother and wife a person could ask for. There is nothing that the town of Silver Lake has to be worried about. If you have concerns, call her or just ask for the whole truth not the half truth.
